Read Along: The Tenba Gen-3 Backpack is designed help organize a camera system and a laptop, and all the extra stuff that goes along with a day of shooting - extra jacket or windbreaker, lunch - 'cause you gotta eat, bug spray if you're shooting outdoors, maybe pepper spray if you're shooting in the city. First lets talk about the outside of the bag. The Gen-3 backpack is wrapped in Tenba's Generation 840 nylon, which is durable and weather resistant, and all enclosures feature YKK zippers, the strongest zippers available. There are zippered pockets on either side to hold anything that you need to get at quickly without going into main compartment - cell phone, mp3 player, wallet and keys. A harness cover on the back lets you wrap up the shoulder straps to put the backpack into the overhead compartment of an airplane, or if you're checking it as luggage this will ensure that the straps don't get caught on anything. The cover unzips and stows away when not in use. The padded shoulder harness is covered with breathable ventilated mesh to keep you comfortable when carrying the backpack in warm weather. Onto the inside, the camera compartment has a unique pull out zippered panel to give you fast, unrestricted access to your camera and lenses. The backpack will fit any digital SLR, from compact consumer models to full-size professional models with a battery grip, plus 2-3 lenses and a flash. You'll notice, at the top of the backpack there is a separate compartment to keep your miscellaneous items organized and easily accessible. There are spaces for pens, batteries, cables and other small accessories, plus plenty of room for a windbreaker, umbrella or food. There is also a removable pouch for a cell phone or mp3 player, and a media wallet that holds four memory cards. The phone pouch and media wallet can be detached from inside the compartment and moved to docking points on the shoulder harness so that you can make phone calls and swap out memory cards without having to take the backpack off. At the back of the bag, laptop/office compartment. The padded laptop sleeve inside will accomodate most 17-inch models in the large backpack, and 15-inch models in the small. As with all Tenba bags, this section is designed so that the laptop can be very quickly and easily removed at the airport when moving through security. Along side the laptop there is a separate document sleeve to store files and folders, and this is a great place for plane tickets and a passport as well. If your needs for the day involve your laptop but not your camera, the entire photo insert is removable, and then the divider between the top and bottom compartments can be folded back to create a large open space for clothes or books, while still keeping the laptop and document sleeves intact. The Gen-3 backpack comes in two sizes - small and large, to fit laptops up to 15 or 17 inches respectively, and both sizes meet standard airline carryon requirements.
