Read Along: The Tenba Gen-3 Messenger bag is designed to organize a camera system and a laptop, and all the extra stuff that goes along with it - from cables and mobile hard drives, to documents and files and the rest of the so-called paper trail. Digital photographers often travel with both their camera and laptop. Despite the digital age there is often a need to carry paper. Where does the paper come from? Well, we don't always know, but we do know that with our bag, there is a place to put it. The Gen-3 Messenger has a way to keep everything in its right place, while also being comfortable to carry and professional in appearance. First let's talk about the outside of the bag. The Messenger is wrapped in Tenba's Generation 840 nylon, a high grade material which is the lightweight, durable and weather resistant. All enclosures feature YKK zippers, the strongest available. There are zippered pockets on either end to hold anything that you need to get at quickly without going into main the compartment, such as a cell phone, mp3 player, or keys. On the back there are two very thoughtful features –
a trolley strap to fit over rolling luggage, so your bag is secure when moving through an airport, and ventilated mesh to keep you comfortable when carrying the bag in warm weather. Onto the inside, the front pocket keeps small items organized and easily accessible. There are spaces for pens, batteries, business cards, CDs and other accessories, plus there is a removable pouch for a cell phone or mp3 player, and a media wallet that holds up to four memory cards. The phone pouch and media wallet can be detached from inside the front pocket and moved to your own belt. Or, if you happen to be wearing sweatpants or spandex bicycle shorts, then the phone pouch and media wallet can be easily moved to the shoulder strap. The main camera compartment has a unique drop-down, zippered panel to give you fast, unrestricted access to your camera and lenses. The Messenger will fit any digital SLR, from compact consumer models to full-size professional models WITH a battery grip, plus 3 to 4 lenses and a flash. The camera compartment will even accommodate larger
pro-size lenses up to a 300mm f/2.8. Behind the camera section, there is a completely separate laptop/office compartment. The padded sleeve will fit most 17-inch laptops, AND as with all Tenba bags, this section is designed so that the laptop can be very quickly and easily removed at airport security. The document organizer has space for files and folders, plus pockets for smaller accessories. It is even removable so that you can take important papers into a meeting without bringing the entire bag with you.
