Read Along: Tenba Roadie photo/laptop cases are designed to provide serious protection for your valuable camera equipment throughout every kind of transportation and travel, while also being versatile enough to use as standard carryon luggage, and everything is hidden beneath a rugged yet subtle exterior that doesn’t scream, “I’m a camera case.” Let’s look at the small Roadie first. The outside of the small Roadie is wrapped in heavy-duty ballistic nylon, and all enclosures feature #10 YKK zippers, the strongest zippers money can buy. The front pocket keeps accessories organized and easily accessible – with spaces and pockets for memory cards, cables, an ac adapter, mp3 player and other similar items. It’s also a great place for a passport and airline tickets if you’re headed through the airport. The next compartment has storage for a laptop up to 17”. If you’re using a smaller laptop, adjustable dividers keep them from shifting around, while also giving you extra space on either side for additional storage. There is a padded document pocket on the other side, as well as plenty of space in the middle for files and folders to make the small Roadie a wonderful, fully functioning briefcase when necessary. This compartment also makes it really easy to remove the laptop at airport security, just move the zippers to both ends, and the laptop slides right out. The rear compartment has a fully adjustable, padded camera insert for 2 D/SLR bodies with lenses attached, plus 6 to 7 additional lenses and flash equipment. The center channel will even accommodate any 300mm 2.8 lens attached to a body. The entire camera insert is removable so that you can swap one camera system for another, or if you leave the insert out altogether, the case becomes a perfect carryon compatible overnight suitcase/briefcase combination. Now let’s move on to the large Roadie. The large Roadie includes a quick release tripod carrier on the front of the case. A small, reinforced cup on the bottom supports the tripod feet, and a padded, neoprene collar wraps around the legs and holds the tripod tight against the case. When you want to remove the tripod to use it, or even just to get inside the case, just squeeze the quick release clip at the top and the tripod comes right off. Also on the front of the case there is a bungee coil that provides quick storage for collapsible, pop-out type reflectors and diffusers. A side accessory pocket gives you fast access to memory cards, batteries and other small items without having to open the whole case. On the outside of that pocket is a badge holder that allows a photographer to attach a plate that has been laser engraved with their contact info or custom logo through Tenba’s exclusive engraving program. When wheeling the case through airport security or at a shooting location, easy access to the laptop is an absolute necessity. For that reason, there is a separate zippered laptop compartment at the back of the case. Just zip open to remove, send the laptop through the airport x-ray machine, slide it back in and keep on moving. No wrestling necessary, and no stink-eye from the people behind you at security. Inside the large Roadie there is a foldout pocket workstation with space for everything from color checkers and gray cards, to mobile hard drives, cables and other accessories. Compression straps anchored to the case frame allow you to keep the workstation open, propped up and easy to work out of. The padded camera insert has space for 2 D/SLR bodies with lenses attached, ready to shoot, plus 6-10 additional lenses and flash equipment. Sports and nature photographers will appreciate that fact that the center channel can accommodate any 500mm 4.5 lens, and even some 600mm lenses. Just like with the small roadie, the camera insert is removable so that you can change out camera systems, or use the case as a standard carryon suitcase. For protection on wheels, Tenba Roadies are the perfect choice. Learn More: Roadie Rolling Photo Case - large Roadie Rolling Photo Case - small |
